The Jupiter 2 first appeared on the 1966 TV series, Lost in Space.
On the far out future date, October 16, 1997, the Jupiter 2 launched from Earth's Alpha Control beginning a 4.37 light-year voyage to the Alpha Centauri star system. This flying saucer was designed to carry a 7 member crew consisting of the Space Family Robinson, Major Don West and their Robot. The Space Pioneers' mission was to find a planet suitable for human settlement.
